1. Colour hunting
Simply have a basket or bag each and say, "Today's colour is red, lets go hunting". Collect as many things from around the house that are red. This game also works to encourage toddlers to pack away, "Let's pack away all the blue toys first…..things with yellow on them… now toys that have a bit of green…

2. Bubble pop. Outside activity.
Simply blow bubbles (either with a home made kit or brought one) and say "Lets catch one before they disappear". "This time let's catch two...three…four…" Toddler may not know numbers but they will have an understanding that they need to go faster and faster. Then adult can sit back and say "see how many you can catch before they disappear", and count for toddler.
