1. Obstacle
course.
Inside or out. Just look for things for toddler to climb over,
crawl under, walk around, step in and out of, step on
Make up a story - we are going on a teddy bear hunt for example.
A simple course I did inside consisted of
under a blanket
pulled over two chairs (a tunnel), over a mound of pillows
(a mountain), around the toy box (a tree), step in and out
of the hoop (a river), and onto pieces of paper (stepping
stones).
2.
Follow the leader.
You pretend to be something and use large exaggerated movements.
"Let's see what we can be, come on follow me". An
elephant, a tiger, a robot, an aeroplane, a kangaroo (my daughters
favourite). Toddler follows you around the room copying you.
Then it is their turn to lead. Simple on the spot fun!
3.
Kiss chasey.
Oh how I love this one! Toddler blows a kiss into the air,
you run around pretending to chase the kiss
run
run...
run... then jump and catch it. When I catch a kiss I either
kiss it back or hold it on my heart. Then you blow a kiss
and toddler pretends to chase and catch it. At my house we
run in and out of rooms, over beds, under tables and all over
just to catch a kiss!
4.
Bubble pop. Outside activity.
Simply blow bubbles (either with a home made kit or brought
one) and say "Lets catch one before they disappear".
"This time let's catch two...three
four
"
Toddler may not know numbers but they will have an understanding
that they need to go faster and faster. Then adult can sit
back and say "see how many you can catch before they
disappear", and count for toddler.
